Video Story Assignment Written Reflection

This was a very interesting assignment to work on, and I believe it’s because of my lack of resources. Since I don’t have a DSLR and my point-and-shoot is from the 2000s, I decided to shoot the entire project from my phone using horizontal mode. My phone’s quality is good enough where i think the quality is better than how it would’ve been if i were to have used the point-and-shoot video and audio wise.

I shot most of the video in one night and had to work without a traditional tripod since I left mine at school and haven’t been able to grab it. I had to work with one of those really flexible small tripods that has a joint from top to bottom. This also limited me in terms of finding a good stabilized position where the legs of the tripod won’t give out due to my phone’s weight. However, after I was finally able to grab the rest of my stuff from my dorm, I was able to grab my tripod and knew I wanted to re shoot some shots using a proper tripod and it ended up working really well.

I wanted to compose my shots as best as I could and some of it would get cutoff when i put the footage into Premiere Pro. You can tell in some of the shots of me sitting on the couch or closing my computer my head got cut off when I put the footage onto the editing timeline on the software.

When it comes to the story itself, my resources were also limited since I really didn’t have many options on where to shoot. This is why I decided to tell such a simple story that the audience can relate too since we’ve pretty much all been in the same boat for awhile now.

Shot Composition at Home

This was an interesting assignment because I was really limited in my resources. I had to shoot with my phone since I don’t have a DSLR, but the quality on my phone is good enough where I felt I was able to full participate in this assignment even if I was limited. I was also limited when it came to subjects to shoot so I focused on my dog, youngest brother, and mother.
